Not to hijack the thread but how much money does it take and what exactly do they do to the block when they prep them for the new internals for the 383??? Thanks in advance.
I don't know the cost, but only that it's not a simple bolt in the new pistons, rods, crank and you've got a 383. I'm certainly not an engine builder, and I respect the attention to detail and criticality of getting the measurements right, so I would rather spend the money to have it done correctly.
I think if you look around, a good engine builder should be able to get your a 383 ls1 stroker short block for roughly ~$3200-$3500. Then you could sell your current short block for 500-600 to recoup some of the cost.
