Default What is max cubic inches out of LS1

What is the max cubic inches you could make out of a LS1? I've heard 396.

Thanks,

I just got a quote from a local company that says darton will do 471 ci sleeves. The guys at Lg motorsports says they have big time cooling issues. I'm interested in this because i'd like a forged high rpm stable 700-800 rwhp motor for road racing but don't want the extra weight of a FI setup. I'm about 2500 lbs and cant afford the motor weight.

Then use an LS2, LS3, L92 or LS7 block. You can go much bigger than an LS1 block without sleeving, and the weight is the same.

i have seen an ls1 all the way up to 441ci but that is after being resleeved of course. Also you have to run special coolant and stuff if you go that big with the ls1 block. By the way an ls2 and ls3 would have to be resleeved to go that big to

Without resleeving the largest stroke you are going to easily fit in there is a 4.125. I've seen a couple with larger stroke engines, but they have to be done right. 3.90x and a 4.125 stroke is right around your original 396.

A 408 w/ some forced induction will give you your 700 to 800 whp... (on super low boost) But why would you roadrace that much power? That's asking to plow into a wall...

Default LS1 cubes

Darton MID 4.200" bore x 4.250" stroke = 471 cubic inches.

The LS2 LS7 blocks will go the same wet sleeved or to 468" dry with 4.185" bore 4.250" stroke.

So your saying you want to have 700-800 hp NA... for road racing? Or do you mean you plan on spraying it? Also theres not much sense in having a car with that much power unless its setup for going in a straight line.

Got to realize also, just because you CAN does not always mean you SHOLD

You need to look at alot of things before you go out and build the biggest CI:

Plans for the car? DD? Street and strip? Track only? Endurance racing? 1/4 mile?

a 3.9 bore ls1 with 4 stroke is like 383ci
i dont i would ever build that, i would rather take a .060 6.0 bore for 375ci
and save on the cost of the stroker crank. and have a larger bore

nope this is an ls1 block. sleeved, bored and stroked. but those cylinder walls are a little thin for my liking.

also lots of people have problems with their re sleeved ls1's. they all seem to drop their sleeves. but there are people that have no problems at all.
