Default What is the difference between LS1 and LS6?

My LS1 in my trans am just took a major **** and I need to get a new block. I have found a LS6 for a good price. I know that everything should bolt up but my questions are the differences in the heads, cam and any other differences. Also will my Longtubes bolt up to these heads?

Just about every major part is upgraded from the ls1. The block is stronger, updated pcv system, better flowing heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, bigger cam. I think the crank rods and pistons are the same but im not sure. Anything that will bolt to a ls1 will bolt to a ls6 too.

^^^ they are iron blocks, and iron block weights quite a bit more then the ls6 alloy block. and that spoils the handling of the car.

The ls6 will be a great motor to drop in! and everything will bolt up just fine, you may have to get the computer re-tuned though because of the better flowing heads and larger cam.

yes in theory the ls6 is slightly weaker, but the ls6 block has better cooling.
