Default Is this oil pressure to low?

around 30 lbs. at idle and 52 lbs. at 5000 rpm

what do you think? It's a ported ls6 pump by the way.

Mine was similar to yours and I was told it was too low. TSP told me it should be over 40 at idle. I decided to make an attempt at the o-ring again when I was changing lifters. I pulled the pan and changed the o-ring with the pickup tube off when I dropped my motor to do the lifters. I'll see what the outcome is tomorrow, because I bought a new o-ring and and I KNOW it is seated right.

yep, not horribly low, but low. How long have you had the car and has it been like this since you bought it?

i have a similar problem...when the car is cold the pressure is high but once the car warms up the pressure drops to about 30 psi at idle. What is really freaking me out though is that i noticed that when i floor it my oil pressure actually drops down to like 5 or 10 psi and stays there until i shift into the next gear and then it will jump up to a normal reading. Even when i take off from a light under normal acceleration the pressure will drop really low and then suddenly shoot back up..i just noticed it yesterday.

You only need 10psi for every 1000k rpm's so 50psi at 5k is fine. If your looking for a little more oil pressure, run the longer truck oil filter by K&N or wix/napa with Castrol syntec 5w50 oil (6 qts). It will raise your oil pressure by 10psi across the board if your worried about it.

For a ls series motor it seems to be low... but the rule def is 10psi oil pressure for every 1000rpm's!!! so i would say your ok! Id probably do as said above run the oil filter and diff oil, or add some lucas in with your oil just to be safer!!!

mine sits at thirty when it idles ever since i built it and i talked to some people and GM tech says as longs as its over 20 and under 80 your good. funny thing is that all data says the LS1 only needs 6psi at idle(not that anyone wants 6psi) but 50 at 5k is fine

Just started my car today with the new pickup tube o-ring, idles just above 40. It was closer to 20 before changing it. I would be VERY concerned if the car had a warm idle pressure of 10psi.

Your oil pressure is supposed to drop across the board as the engine warms up.

Your oil pressures are perfect, do nothing.

Hmmmmm how does running a longer filter raise your pressure? Unless its due to mostly running a heavier weight oil.Just wondering??

Longer filter doesn't increase oil pressure, it only increases the capacity of the oil system.

A ported LS6 oil pump should put out 40+ at idle. My car was doing 25ish, tsp told me the oring was pinched, so I replaced the o-ring. Now it's 40+ like they said.
