Default ported oil pump??

I have a 01 LS6 long block in my SS, and I have a MS3 cam going in. I bought a ported LS6 pump but im thinking I dont really need it...anyone have any suggestions?

if you have it put it in, i would also go w/an ls2 timing chain. I have always heard a ported ls6 pump is the way to go.

i just put a standard replacement melling in mine during my cam swap, mostly for piece of mind even though my factory one was fine and still made good pressure

Good call.. I did heads and cam over a year ago and have always been worried about the pump since i didnt change it. Didnt change lifters either. Now next week im taking it apart to put in a melling 10296 and some ls7 lifters. I'll feel alot better when its all done.
