Default quality vs. quantity?

i`m putting together a 370 for my 2000 trans am and its time to get heads, it`s kinda a budget thing as i only have $1700 to spend. the question is should i get ported ls6 heads or trick flow 220 "as cast". from what i`ve seen personaly and on the web, i can get a set of ported ls6 heads that will out flow the trick flow`s for less or about the same but the trick flow`s seem to be made out of a better meterial. i`m going to spray atleast a 200 shot on this combo, the short block is stock crank, comp star rods, and weisco pistons. so which would be "better"?

If you are going to spray I would go with Trickflows.

If you are looking for a set of ported 241s we have some on a blow out sale. GTP ported 241s with stainless valves and LS6 yellow springs - $700 for the set. not a piece....THE SET with free shipping.

check em out

that is, IF you want to stay with a stockish head and have some dough left over. by all means though, if you want the trick flows, go with them. They are an excellent head

thanks for the offer on the 241`s and on my next project i`ll be all over them. so, so far it seems quality over quantity

It depends on who is porting the heads. I would take my Ls6 243 heads ported by Larry Meaux over other out of the box head.

the question is about the quality, i know i can buy ported ls6(or practicly any other factory gm head that has been ported by the sponsers on here) heads that`ll out flow the the trick flows. the thing is the trick flows seem like they`re made out of a far better material, and to be honest my only concern is weather or not the factory material and valves will take the nitrous abuse.

I'd say trick flows. Just a better starting platform and when you get some extra cash you still have room for them to be worked over.

i`m starting to lean that way, i was also thinking l92`s but i was told i`d probably be better off with the smaller intake runner and valves due to how much i drive the car and i plan on taking on the power tour again this year.(i guess it`ll have alittle better low end tourque and get better fuel milage)

Well seriously the nitrous debate can go on for 900 pages. Some people have very good luck with larger hits, some dont. I have not seen many problems on stock long blocks even with a 150 HP dose of the juice, but then again, some people have lots of problems.

Honestly for peace of mind, you should prob go trick flow. They will take some extra $$$ but well worth it. It seems like you are leaning that way anyway, so why not go with your gut?

yeah i ran a 150 shot for a while with out a problem and i have friends that have done more, the plan is to later step it up to a 300 shot but in 2 stages. that needs to wait until the rest of the car is on par with the motor

Yah, i would def get a head that has a better deck. Sounds like trick flow is your answer. Sounds like you need to spend some money on suspension parts as well huh?
