Default LS1 to LS3 water pump conversion

I'm going to put a LS3 water pump on an LS1. Has anybody on here done that before? What does it take? Is it a direct bolt on?

Thanks!

Why, is the current pump bad? From what I have read, although a direct replacement it is not as well made.

Put one on my 99 LS1 vette when I did the cam change; less rotating mass.

I pulled my pump off as it was leaking. It has 100k miles on it.

Hey, coanan, how did you get the LS3 pump on your LS1? Was the pulley an issue at all?

THanks!

Found it on Ebay, back in March paid 100.00 for it.

off a LS3 crate motor, the pulley is narrower, less than half of what my LS1 was; that was the only difference. Now what I can't tell you is if the F-body and the Vette use the same water pump.

Interesting. Yeah I just bought a LS3 style pump with an LS1 style bell pulley. It's for my 99 vette.

I'm sure it will work cause they're the exact same pulley. However, it would be interesting to know if the narrower pulley would fit. Cause those are about 1/3 the price to get the same water pump with the narrower pulley

It worked on my 99 LS1 Vette (narrow pulley)
