Default Cam Advice Please!

Hey everyone, I have an 01 SS M6 and I have been doing a ton of searching to help educate myself some, but there are so many opinions and differently modded cars that it is hard to make a decision. This coming summer I want to do some power mods to my car. The car will be Daily Driven but then sometimes sit when I drive my truck... so maybe 2 or 3 days a week I drive the car. Right now the car is stock with a lid and a bullet muffler. I was thinkin that I will do Long tubes with duals, maybe a FAST intake and bigger TB and then the cam and a tune. I have read about the g5x3 cam was a good all around cam to make alot of power and still be driveable for the street. Is this true? Will I make about 400 rwhp with that combo I listed? The car dynoed 315hp 331tq how it sits now. Will that cam make good enough low end torque to cruise on the highway in 6th gear? What cam would you sugggest? Any advice? Should I not do the FAST intake and TB if I have the LS6 intake? Oh and another big question... are those LG cams overpriced or are they all 500 bucks? Is there something like it for cheaper?

You'll need the long tubes and exhaust for a cam. LS6 is ok, but if you want the power, I definitely recommend the FAST. You'll probably make the 400 mark cam only with big cam. LG makes good cam's that are proven, but Thunder Racing's also got good cam's that are cheaper and proven. I definitely recommend them. Use the search botton to research the different cams.

any cam in the low 23x range should get you up to your goal on stock heads.

examples:
futral F13 or F14
TSP torquer v2 or 233/239
TR TRak or split patter 230/236

and they should all have enough torque to cruise easily in 6th.

as for the FAST...it depends on your budget, since it IS so expensive.

but for reference i just had my car dynoed...before and after....with a FAST.

with my cam, and STOCK HEADS, the car picked up about 18rwhp and 12ftlbs of torque peak with the FAST. it also gained 5-12 hp and torque over the entire rpm band from 3000 up. also it shifted my torque peak DOWN about 500rpm.

final numbers are in the sig below.

oh...and for reference...with stock gears, i can cruise in 6th gear at 55mph over level ground without any problem.

^They have Lou's name on them, and they're all a secret/mystery, like Bush's Baked Beans and the original Coke recipe.

in today's day of research and home building....."secret" cams are idiotic.

most of us want to do the research ourselves....not have a mechanic tell us what should go in the car.

if i can't see the specs...i don't give it 2 sec worth of attention.

x2 Teke. I'd rather pay $25 extra and have Pat G spec one.

We have 2 cams that are working well for us with what you are looking for. Our RR-230 230/236 111 and our Pat G spec's Stinger cam 224/232 113
