If you are changing the cam I would change the lifters too - depending on miles to some extent. I know some cam only don't, but you risk premature damage to your cam or worse if you don't.

If it's a higher mile car, I'd definitely do it. That's when it's a good idea just to buy some heads since the stockers will have to come off anyways.

How many miles on your car? If its low mileage I would never pull the heads to do a cam only swap. That's just stupid.....

They are not the same. They are direct replacement, yes, but are a different design.

Yes, thats correct, but if you look at them directly, they have a different desing. I have an 01 and the new ones were different. I swapped them out in 06.

the car has 103k on it. wasn't planning on pulling the heads until next year when i tear it all down. but i would also like to make it threw the summer. the car will only see around 2000 street miles and hopefully go to the track 2 times a month.

Should be fine no more then it's going to be ran, i'd probably stay away from LSK lobes.

I'm installing a G5x2 (x-er) lobed cam, only 40k on my car though and no way in hell am I pulling the heads for a cam install. I plan on heads next winter anyways and i'll do it then. Of course I'm auto and shift points will only be at 6.4-6.5k; so I won't be revving the absolute **** out of it.
