Default Vave spring selection help please!

I know these questions have been asked over and over but the more I read the less I know. What spring shoud I use on a stock LS1 head with a .561 lift cam? I see springs for .600+ cams, should I buy one of those sets or is there springs that are better suited to the smaller cam?

Forget about lift capability, you should be looking at seat force, open force and surface treatments for extended life.

My top picks would be correctly set up PSI 1511ML's or PAC 1518. Both are excellent springs treated for extended life.

The beehives recomended above by Vettenuts are PERFECT for your setup and lighter than duals which is a plus. If the PAC 1518's are too pricey just look at the 1218's.

PAC 1518 beehives are perfect for that cam and will last a long time.

The PAC 12/1518's are both beehives. The 1518's are nitrided (will last longer) and have slightly more seat pressure. The 18's are rated at .650 lift too IIRC but somebody will correct me fast if i am wrong

The Patriot/ PRC golds are duals and are not necessary in your application IMHO. They are just heavier and add valvetrain weight when the PACS will be all you need. In some apps duals can be perfect....

These are single springs correct? How do they do with a higher lift/more extreem lobe? say .600+ and XER or LSK?

They are no different than any other spring as in proper setup is required. I run duals right now but I will go 1518's when I need a change I think.

The PAC springs are good, but the Comp 918's are just fine. I've used them more times than I can ever remember and I've never had one break.

Ya Im thinking of this as well, I just have trouble wrapping my mind around beehive's as Ive always been told duals are where its at.

So would these springs fit stock heads? And to take that further would the stock retainers be sufficient? Finally where can one acquire these super springs?

I have 1518's on a .609 lift

Straight from Pat G himself...

"PAC 1518s are a truly robust spring and I am not aware of any breakage issues with them. They are the best beehive available for these motors."

I would go with the 12499224 GM LS2/LS6 Spring. Those are good to 0.575 lift and they are very reasonable priced. If you want, give Tim a call at the shop today.

^^^why use a .575 lift spring with a .561 cam?? i would feel more comfortable with a .600 or .625 beehive myself. thats just a little added reassurance to me.

Crane #99831-16 or PAC #1218 springs will do the job just perfect for your needs.
