Default Re-using Gaskets?

Do you re-use any of your factory gasket's? I noticed the oil pan gasket is riveted to the pan, that's one reason I ask. Also the Valve Cover gasket's...can you re-use them?

I wouldn't re-use the oil pan unless you put a ton of sealer on it. My friend had to drill out the rivet to get the new oil pan gasket on.. looked like there were two rivets but one was already busted.

I think you could get away with re-using the valve cover gaskets, but i'd check for any tears. If you find one, toss it.

i didnt reuse my valve cover gaskets when doing a cam swap. i did try to reuse my oil pan gasket and that turned into a disaster. i had oil leaking all over the bottom of the car. so i dropped the k member and replaced it and got new poly motor mounts while i was down there

What they said.... Use a new oil pan gasket. You can re-use the valve cover gaskets. Front cover gasket can be re-used if it is not bent. I would get a new rear cover gasket as well as a new rear seal.

Why is that? I'm not taking any of that apart for the cam swap

you will to be taking the front cover off for a cam swap,, front cover gasket can be reused if its not bent like stated above, and the water pump gaskets can also be reused but the water pump gaskets are only a dollar at a local advance
