Default LS2 timing chain

I posted a thread earlier about a question on my timing chain, since everything is already apart for the cam I might aswell replace the chain. I think I am going to go with an LS2 chain, however my question is, last night I went to the local parts store (Advanced Auto Parts) and asked them to look up a timing chain for me, not for my 5.7L, but one from lets say an 06 GTO since that has the LS2. For some reason, they do not have anything for that car, but do have a timing gear/chain from an 06 Corvette which also has the LS2 correct? My question is, for the price he said the timing chain and gears were $41 and the chain itself was $20....now is it just me or don't they usually run around $40? The price difference caught me off gaurd so I didn't order it and wanted to hear from you guys first, a timing chain from an 06 Vette should be good right?

I would get it straight from a GM parts vendor, at least then it is a known quantity.

^^^ I agree, I would get it from GM so the quality is known. Another option is one of the vendors that sell genuine GM parts. Not sure what you might get at the local autoparts store...not worth the risk!

Would it be worth it to replace it if the front cover was off, even on a stock or near stock application?

I went to Napa and got mine...cost $56 out the door only cause I had to order it and it was 10$ freight charge...

I told them it was for a 06 Vette.
