Default is this to much rpm for stock bottom

i was getting my car tuned today and made most power at 6400 so my rev lim. was set at 6600.

my question, is that to much rpm for stock bottom end, and stock rod bolts?

Seeing as you have an 01 I would no hesitate to take it to 7,000

I would shift 300-400 RPM after where it makes its peak power. And than set the rev limiter 200 above that RPM

I've twisted a stock bottom to 7000+ on a daily basis. The 01-02 motors will be fine with it.

I think you are getting to the point of stretching a bolt on the bottom end, heading in the direction of rod failure- I wouldnt take a stock bottom end to 7- dont get me wrong, I run my car to 6800- but I am aware that It is danger zone.

i think when the car starts making more power is when you will want to swap out the stock rod bolts .

As long as you have (as someone has already mentioned) good quality valve-springs and heavy-duty push-rods, you should be okay for 6,500 or 6,600.
The top-end is the weak area, not so the bottom end.
Bit like some women I know.

The bottom end is supposedly good for 550hp according to most good validated sources (GMPP for one).

LS1's received up-rated rod bolts from this production year.

earlier ls engines had a weaker valvetrain than later years, (98-99) espesially the rockers. but why turn a motor past its power band? (7000) RPM. 6600-6800 is where u want to be.
