I recently installed a g5x3 in my vette and it is not a dd. I believe even that cam is a little harsh for a dd. And I got a tune from an awesome tuner! 422rwhp & 396 rwtq. It did lose power under ~2000rpm, a gear is prob needed to make it a good dd.

Not crazy, the kit comes with hardened PR's Ti seats (I think) comp 921 valvesprings, and something else, but I forget. True the price has went up, but thats just inflation.

As for you question about the g5x4 as a DD ??!!?? No way. You'd be smart to get a set of gears to keep her in the powerband after each shift. More of a track cam then street. Expect to change your valvesprings regularly.

Don't buy the whole kit from LG, just the cam and get patriot springs for 250-270, hardened pushrods for 100 and a gasket kitfor prob 50. Thats 850-900 tops!

The patriot springs come with spring perches, valve seals, dual springs, titanium retainers, and locks. All for 250-270!

I have the G5X4 in my car. Its not a daily, but I still drive it on nice days. The only problem I had with it was cam surge under 2K RPM. But as soon as i put my stall in, that went away. Id say go for it, you wont be disappointed.

I would get a G5x2 on a 112, actually has more overlap then a G5x3 on a 114. (I don't believe the x3 will fit without flycut on a 112)

G5x2 IMO is the best LG cam for a stock headed street car.

Any of these cams will like a little more gear...

I too am a fan of the G5X3, i have been running ti in my stalled A4 for 2 yrs now and it is hands down the best cam i have tried. I DD the car til last year. You will definately turn some heads! With regard to the X4, i concurr with the others, stay away from it unless it's just a Race car...jmo...
