i dont think anything else could make a noise as loud as you described except for maybe a connecting rod or crank breaking.
maybe i did blow it out..but could it be possible on just start up???..

**** almost made me def..no joke..

yep..so i know it aint ptv clearance..the only thing i can think of is the wires..but if that is the case the other rockers should have the same ill affect right?..its not a rod because i can still move the other rocker on that cyilinder if i turn the motor

defintely could make a loud sound onstart up. helped my brother get his iroc-z started after a rebuild and he turned the distributer 180° out with out telling me and that made a hell of a backfire sounded like a gun shot...

cam looked like this right? its hard to see perfectly in the car so i verified mine with a camera... im pretty sure you have your right, never hurts to double check though. dots can be hard to see.

yep looked like that..

i tried a different rocker, same result..so its either the lifter (which i doubt), or a valve or a spring..

let me tak a pic

Well after checking out the rocker..I proceded to place the rocker on the on the spring and tighten it..But i noticed something..When the rocker is on the rail..It wont compress the spring..When it is OFF the rail it will compress the spring..

So i finally found out the problem
Um What did i do???-pussssh.jpeg

See the shorter pushrod 2nd from the last..I guess that is the problem...Don't know what it means, but i guess the heads have to come off

Either the lifter collapsed or the cam has a flat spot

Was the push rod moving up and down at all while turning the motor over? Just not moving up enough to hit the rocker right?

Sounds like a lifter went haywire. Wonder if the guts blew out of the lifter. Like the retainer came out somehow. Not sure if that can even happen...but maybe the loud noise was the lifter springing apart???

Im keeping an eye on this out of curiousity.

Good luck man! Hope its something simple and easy...and cheap for ya.

it was moving up and down when i was turning it by hand..When i went to start it up, thats when i heard the "pop", which was me not connecting the spark plug wires to the spark plug..Ok I can understand that, along with some smoke.

But that "PING", was something wicked..I thought i blew a hole out of the block, and looked everywhere for a chunk of aluminum lol..

i mean they are non-adjustable so torquing them to 22ft pounds is standard..I did the same exact thing for EVERY Rocker..So i am attributing to this as a Lifter too, but ill pull the heads early in the morning and take pics..

If there is a crack in the block.Im selling the car

You soaked your lifters for 7 days? You killed a lifter no doubt. When you replace them, don't do that.

Whats the difference if i soak it for 7 hours or 7 days..It has to be pumped with oil...When its filled up, then thats it...It wont soak up anymore??
