This is old school technology and if you can't ask an intelligent question it's going to take you 9 pages to get to the solution as it did in this case. A person who knew how a 4 stroke cycle works could ask the correct question and get to the answer quicker. This guy obviously doesn't know how to ask the right question. Just because you have the hand tools to tear a motor down doesn't necessarily mean you have the other tools(brain power) to put it back together again. Confidence and hand tools can take a top end down, but knowledge and experience are needed to put it back together again. Humpty Dumpty taught you that back in kindergarten. Some of the mistakes that were made on this rebuild are so basic even Pee Wee Herman wouldn't laugh at them. And to think I was going to move to California when I retire to get me a homosexual illegal alien husband so we could collect welfare and smoke medical marijuana all day without breaking any laws, but I may have to rethink that idea after reading this post. Maybe you guys out there in the "Land of the Fruits and Nuts" actually are smoking too much of that legal medical marijuana.
wow what a *** bag? I don't really see where he did anything wrong. Get a life loser.

Damn Thanks Guys for havin my Back on this...The car is up and running and a vid will be posted within the hour..

Hope nobody is discouraged from doing their own H/C..Its very uhhh..Intersting.LOL..But i learned alot just by doing it myself, it wasnt 100% perfect but most of the problems were very small (Coil Packs Backwards, Lifter collapsed..Not as small) compared to what could have happpend..I did it over the span of a week and a half, while still going to classes at night, and working on my car in the day..Dont rush it..**** Dumbasses Like eallenboggs..

Havn't drove her yet but fired here up..And the vid will be posted in a bit

Im guessing the firing order and the voltage needed to fire up the car..For example the plugs that i pulled were cover in soot in the 5 and 7 cylinder, im guessing all that fuel is needed in the 1 3 cylinder..Thats why i was getting backfire, the voltage was too high for the amount of fuel being dumped in the 5 7 cylinder and the voltage was too low in the 1 3 cylinder to strat the car and keep it going. It would fire but wouldnt hold..SSo the firing order is 1 blah blah..And since the #1 Coil pack was on the #7 cyilinder, the timing was off on the car..Just my guess

The 97 and 98 LS1's don't have coil brackets and the coils bolt directly to the valve covers. The coils weren't on the wrong side of the engine, they were on the correct side bolted on backwards. It is the same as unplugging the harness on your coils and flipping it over, which will cause the coils to fire in the wrong order.
