Default Another F13 horror story

Another horror story from the f13, cam had about 15k miles on it. Working with futral now, but it doesn't look like they are going to replace it..

EDIT:
Futral held up to giving me half off on a camshaft. I am more than happy with that offer and will continue to run a new grind cam. They said the cams are now ground on a billet core and have no problems.

I talked to Futral and they said that it was a bad core from Cam-Motion. However they are not going to replace it..

Craig.....

Kinda a premature post before we come to a settlement ?

Camshaft that is 4 yrs old and a car that has switched owners? I feel that 1\2 price of a new replacement cam that has been offered to you is fair on something on an aftermarket part that really has no expressed warranty ?

damn that sounds like a good deal, considering its an aftermarket part and you werent the original purchaser.

Honestly I don't see how anyone can blame Allan/Futral for the camshaft coming apart anyway. Allan doesn't grind cams, he buys them from Cam Motion cut to his specs.

Nice offer Futral! Hell, I bought brand new wheels from those scum bags at West Coast Corvette. They send the wrong sizes and they were damaged! Whole story, never mounted, screwed up right out of the box. Told me to pound salt, basically.
Needless to say, I spent thousands on my car this past year WCC got none!

Not trying to put the blame on you at all! I was just offered the half price a bit after the post was made. That is more than fair and I gladly accept that! Please don't take this post as a bash, merely just upset about the bad core. Honestly, the way it sounded at first was I was only going to get 10% off. Which kinda sucked, but at half price that is more than fine.

I was in no way trying to blame futral motorsports.. I have installed over a dozen of his cams, and they always run hard as hell! I will continue to use his cams. First talk with him kinda made me feel like I was out of luck, but after a follow up, I am more than happy. I was just referring to the f13 horror stories a few people have encountered in the past.

I've been installing FMS cams since 2004 when my FM13 made 460+ rwhp with a Stg 1.5 head and LS6 intake. I'd wager to say I've used probably 25 Cam Motion cams since then without fail. I guess I missed out on the bad batch

People should order with confidence. I've never had a problem with a Futral/Cam Motion product and will continue to use them. They work, better than most.

You were going to complain about only getting 10% off of a part that you didn't even purchase in the first place? You are very lucky that they are giving you anything towards a new part.

That just makes me feel good that I am running a Futral product. Not because if it ever fails it could get replaced, but rather the excellent customer service on components that have no warranty. And by the way, if my F13 ever failed, I would call up Futral and purchase another new one. .

I don't really know what the car switching owners has to do with anything. Especially since this car was sold as a roller. However this seems like a more than fair offer for an aftermarket part. I have dealt with Futral and Craig before and would to so again. Glad to see they got this worked out.

I have to disagree. It is Futral that is responsible to the customer, not cammotion - they are responsible to Futral. The cam sould not disintegrate - it's a sign that the steel was not properly hardened or in other words - defective. The customer is out the cam, the lifters, the labor and gaskets to pull the heads, the oil pump, etc. I would think that futral would make good on the full price of the cam since it was defective. If the cause of the failure was something else that's a different story - but in this case it appears to have been the cam.

I understand that these are aftermarket parts but there are known issues with a batch of the cams from Cammotion - to me Futral needs to hold them accountable and make the customer whole - at least on the cost of the cam.
