Wow, we put a 2002 LS1/T56 into our 67 camaro a few years ago and with 3.73 gears we average 27mpg. That was with stock cam, we will let you know with the new heads and cam soon enough...

The majority if not all of that is around town and trust me when I say I am not bashful with the right pedal...
Mine came out of a 2002 also if that matters..

Two things you never see in the same post:
Fuel Mileage & MS3

Three things you never see in the same post:
Fuel Mileage, MS3 & 4.11

Four things you never see in the same post:
Fuel Mileage, MS3, 4.11 & "I don't baby it"

If you are concerned about mileage, take it on a highway trip, don't drive like a 16 year-old kid, and see what you get. Obviously a cammed car with gears that is driven agressively in the city is not going to get good fuel economy.

For what it's worth, I got 18mpg in a basically stock 2001 Camaro SS the last time I fueled up. I rarely drive it, and I'm sure "I'm not bashful" with the gas pedal when I do. The last time I tried to drive it on an extended highway trip and check economy, it got 28mpg running about 80mph on a 4 hour trip with the T-Tops out.

The only way to know if something is wrong would be to run a trip of reasonable length on the highway. Even with 4.11's, the 6th gear in an M12 trans should work out to a 2.30 final drive, while an MN6 trans comes out to 2.06.

At 60 mph with a 26 inch tall tire, an M12 should put you at almost 1800 rpm, while an MN6 trans would put you at 1600. If you can't break into the 20+ range, you might want to visit a tuner. Ideally mid 20's should still be possible, but I wouldn't expect much more. Aerodynamically, a '69 is not a slippery as an '02.

at 75 im at 2100 (speedo reads 2300 but last time i put a snapon scan tool on the car 800rpm showed up as 1000 on my tach, so now i use the basis that im 200rpm under what it says)

anyways, i got 22.5mpg on an all hwy trip from 70-80 with a 3-5 hole shots going up to ~120mph

EDIT: this is with stock internal ls1 ith 4.11s

11:1 compression, cam, M6, stock 3.42's, 243 heads 28 mpg highway at 70mph (better than stock 25ish). Seemed like mileage improved with the new flow matched injectors, also idles smoother. I do my own tuning with hptuners and a wideband (olsd), I can probably get 29-30mpg out of it as I just got it running 3 weeks ago. Averaging 18mpg city/highway while running it through the gears atleast 10 times and a 0-150 run.

I drive pretty conservative in town, shifting under 2000 rpm and the worse I have got so far is 17mpg. That includes a night racing at the track. You better get a wideband and hptuners to get that thing dialed in.

I can still pull in 27mpg highway with AFR 205's/FAST90/228R on 11.5 compression with M6/4.10's at 75 mph.

In town I got 17mpg on this last tank and that included 10-12 WOT runs up to 120ish on a Saturday nite.

When i ran by CARBURETED 2000 LS1 setup with the cam in my sig, a T56, and 4.56s i still amaged to get ABOUT 20mpg. I say about because i never had a speedo but i drove it to work a few times (which i know to be 18.5 miles) and then filled up and it was right around 19mpg with some spirited driving. You should be getting WAY more.\

Im my old 01 Z06 that put down 465/422 i got 24mpg average and would see 28mpg on the highway.

I'm in the middle of installing all my EFI stuff in my 68 now and im hoping to see 25 highway mpg or so.

I don't know what my highway mileage is currently but around town I'm getting about 13 and my AFR is correct. Would be better if I kept my foot out of it. I don't think this is all that bad considering the mods.

90% short trip semi-city driving, all <55mph, mostly 35-45mph. most trips are <5mi.

cam with stock rear end...18.5mpg last fill up the other day. generally 24-25mpg driving 80mph with the windows down and usually ttops off.

windows up, cruise set for 75mph i'm sure i could get 26ish.

I have a 228/232 cam in my M6 Trans Am....

When i had my stock 28# injectors babying it on the street i got about 15-16 mpg. On the hwy in 6th gear i got 26 mpg. Now again with my stock 28# injectors my duty cycle was 99%.. Meaning they were spraying ALL THE TIME...... And to a tank of gas i would get about 175 miles to a tank..

Now fast forward to beginning of May. I installed my 42# injectors. I forgot to mention my car is not a DD. But i have not even gone thru a tank of gas but my needle does not move as fast. My duty cycel is now 56% and right now i am almost at a 1/2 tank and i have driven 145 miles. Soo umm yeah you can see i am doing ok. I am hoping to see over 200 with this tank. Somthing i have not seen since i was stock or not driving on the hwy

mods and numbers are in sig
