I *think* that the 977s high seat pressure can/will collapse a stock hydraulic lifter. I am not sure, its just what Jay and Lou said I needed.
True.....Comp Cams recommends using the Comp R lifters with the 977 springs.

I've got the X1 with the Rev heavy duty duals...no noise..and no float...love'em...wouldn't trade'em for anything. they are worth the price bro.

So are we saying the REV duals are ok now? I've been waiting on the money for the Comp 921's, but if you think its ok to use REV duals then I'll get those. I can get a set with 2K miles for 175$.

The Rev Duals require machining as well...I had to have my heads machined to fit the Rev Duals....

You're the first one I've heard to say they needed machining on the heads.

I just got my motor back together and I am running 5.80 lift. With my Stage 2 heads milled .060, the pistons would have hit those 2.02 valves like a brick wall if the pistons weren't cut, still too close for me, I'm ordering some non-milled heads next week.... one missed shift and BAM! Just better check before you use this cam on your milled heads! GOOD LUCK

The HEAVY DUTY Rev Dual require machining...u can get rev duals that don't...but I wouldn't think twice about putting a .600+ LIFT CAM in the car....hell w/my X1 I'm pushing .600 and i haven't gotten a peep out of them.

i bought the REV doubles with titanium retainers in May; they are installed in my street car with a 220/220, 564/564, 112 cam and ported ls6 heads.

....No problems from me...i hope they will last 30K or so....

the rev duals have been good to me... a LOT of 7k shifts and so far 6k miles on them... DO NOT BUY USED SPRINGS..... especially with this cam that is one area not to cheap out on.. Springs get heat cycled and when you now add potential larger, lift more duration, different installed height you could see potential problems... and my X2 on 114 fit with .015 head mill.... any more than that and it will not fit without flycutting... good luck!!

I want any info on the Rev dual spring set-up. All feedback is appreciated. I am trying to avoid pulling the heads again. I don't want to have to send them in for machining for Comp springs. I would sooner stay with my current set-up.

Thanks,
