Default What are the differences between LS1 and LS6 heads?

I was wondering what the specific differences were between the 2 style heads.

Thanks,

Roman

I know that I got LS6 (at least from what I've been told) but I have never seen the 2 beside each other and would like to be able to tell the difference between them.

There is a difference in the exhaust ports also right? D-shaped on the LS6 and oval LS1 right?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes the LS6 heads along with the LQ4, LQ9 heads have D shaped exhaust ports.. They also have raised floors, one of the reasons there is a better gain with the LS6 intake and those heads.. It's practically worthless to put an LS6 intake on stock pre '01 LS1 heads..

Another difference is LS6 heads have hollow, sodium filled valves, making the valves much lighter.

Wait a sec...

There are pretty significant differences besides just the stats provided.

Specifically, the short side radius of the LS6 head is much larger than that of the LS1 head.

Thanks guys,

One more question...

Anyone know what the deck height might be in the LS6 heads?

Thanks for the responses.

could someone anwser the above question is there a difference between the two LS1 Casting #853 & 241. I ask because I have a 2000/SS with the #241 heads, clearly Casted on the passenger side head. Would these heads #241 benefit from a mild home head porting project. Just wondering, sometimes these small issues can effect future mods.
