Default Valve Train noise???

Car has about 900 miles on it since I did a MS3 cam swap..
The last day or 2 it seems like the valve train is getting really loud. Also this morning there was a bunch of smoke when I started it up. For the first 15 seconds or so then it went away..

What should I look for, what should I take apart??

Thanks

im assuming you have dual valve springs with the ms3, so the stiffer spring rate creates more noise than the stock beehives.

the smoke, depending on what color it was, is probably your valve seals if you didnt replace them when you swapped your springs. if your car hasnt been tuned yet, or is just a shitty tune it could be running super rich at startup. worse case scenario you have worn piston rings.

oh, add a catch can if you dont have one...could be your car happens to dump a lot of oil into the intake.

pull your tb off and look inside your intake. if its really oily in there, you need a catch can.

i dont wanna say it, but if you have new seals etc, you might have bad piston rings, creating some blow by on startup.

Depending on how you installed the new seals, they can come off and ride up and down with the valve and effectively not seal the oil. Pull a valve cover and check to make sure the seals are still in their original position. I had this problem with a Nissan once and it drove me nuts (not original Nissan seals is what the issue turned out to be, the aftermarkets just wouldn't stay on place).

I would guess the vettenut is on the right track. Most likely your smoke is from the seals. First guestion would be how did you install them? Second would be how much preload did you end up with the pushrods? If the pushrods are way off they could be loading the valve guides which will wear them and push the valve seals off. And I've also seen some of the duel springs push the valve seals off as well.

Agree with probable seals issue and I would start there.

No, but some of the causes that would make the seals come off could.

Not knowing what your motor sounds like, if the seal is against the inner spring it could make some noise I suppose. Checking the seals is free and relatively easy so that is where I would start.
