I've been looking at the TR224, but saw a 226/226 .584/.584 112LSA cam for sale and was just curious how you guys think it would compare to the TR224. I'd really like a cam that will be driveable on the stock tune in an M6 for a few months and make nice mid-range and top-end power without having to spin past 6500 RPM.
Thanks,
Josh

Not sure i got a 224/226 .570/.571 112lsa and i was told it wouldn't idle very well, but i have an A4. I'm having the car ls1 tuned after install so that won't be a problem. I don't care for crap idle, surging at low load.
At the minimum you should probably wideband that puppy to make sure it doesn't lean out your motor with the extra power it produces.

niether of those cams will be too good on a stock tune. I had a MTI B1, which is a little smaller than the TR224 and it sucked driving it around, but I got use to it. Died in reverse every time, pulled too much vaccum in a u turn and died a couple times. But back then we didn't have LS1 edit so I just drilled the idle hole in the TB and dealt with it. BTW, a B1 is on a 114 LSA too. The 112 would be a little harsher. I think you could deal with it really, it just adds character

i think youll do fine, put youll want to get a tune.

it will suxor with stock tune, but with a few adjustments like 5 minutes worth, she'll be flick a key and run. The low rpm surging that may be a little more tricky.
DO NOT DRILL the tb, use the allen adjustment to open the blade more.
it is very common to run 850 or 950 rpm idle's on these LSA

Why bother to put a cam if you can't enjoy it's full potential? or on the contrary make your car run like crap and potentially harming it.
If you can't control yourself, buy all the parts for the cam swap and sit on them (not litterally LOL)
Sacrifice and try to get the money for a proper tune. Then swap that little beast in and "pure pleasure".

finally got the cam in and tuned for those wondering about the numbers. First pull untuned was 385hp/366tq. After 5 more pulls we came up with 405hp/388tq. I have Mac headers, ORY, Lid, Smooth Bellows, Magnaflow CB, and 918 springs.
