Are 1.8 rockers worth it ?????
hey guys,
i was just wondering if 1.8 rockers really worth it if you already have heads and cam ?
my cam is a .566 lift i/e sides . with 1.8's it would take me to a .599 lift ,if i did the math right .
it's seems to be a little sleeper mod ,but the cost of rockers alone is the only thing holding me back . what do you guys think ? thank in advance

1.8's dont work well with aggressive ramp rates of aftermarket cams from what ive researched.

id just get a new cam with the lift built in if thats what you want.. 1.8's may also require new pushrod length so factor that cost as well. if you buy a new cam with the same base circle as your 224 you should be able to reuse your pushrods assuming they are not stock...

They are ok if you are going for sleeper full bolt on power but if you have or are planning on getting a cam it doesnt make sense to waste the money. Besides I dont see .033 of lift making that big of a difference in your combo and 1.8 rollers will run about $400 and another $100 for pushrods is alot to pay for a few ponies, add a little more and you have enough to buy a bigger cam and swap it in.

Imagine if you got a new cam with bigger lift AND 1.8 rockers....the possibilities. I've run 1.8 Crane Gold Race rockers for 5 years and it's one of the best investments I've made. They really are not hard on your valvetrain like people say. With the right set-up the 1.8s are highly beneficial.

But what would the "right" setup be with the GenIII cathedral port heads?
I reed in GMTHP that it was recomended to change the rockers to roller if you have more than 0.550inch of lift.

Exactly. The correct components were matched up precisely for a positive end result, they were not just thrown together, as some people add parts to their car just because it "has the most hype" and it may not be suitable to their set-up. What he should know is that no, it's not really going to help if you put them on a mild cam, but a larger cam would definetly benefit from the 1.8 rockers. It's like putting new gears in the rear and not matching the converter correcly for optimization.
