Question any1 ever have the crank pulley loosen up and back out?

looks like my crank pulley is backing off the snout. my ac belt feel off and the main belt slipped out of the grooves!! do u guys think i didnt tightin it enough???

Did you use a Brand New crank pulley bolt? You MUST use a new one. You use the old one to seat the pulley, remove the bolt, insert the new bolt, torque it to about 36 lb-ft then turn it 140*.

yeah , using the stock one again is asking for trouble. i got away with using it again, but my friend was not so fortunate.

i used a brand new one!!!!

i will buy another new bolt. it pisses me off though that i have to rip the car apart again should i use lock tight?

Yeah, having the remove the steering rack just for that is a PITA! No, the new bolts have loctite on them. If you want, just get the ARP bolt. It's reusable. ThunderRacing ---> has them. $25

how much should i torque the arp bolt to the crank?????

ok I re-used a stock one the first time for a U/D pulley damn thing backed out and pulley came loose, then I just put a new one in. Then I swapped my cam and re-used again!! but put a little blue loc-tite on it and cranked her down still tite and have about 3000 so far

It uses the same tq sequence as a NEW stock bolt. Also, do NOT skimp on this, either get a new stock bolt or the ARP bolt. Consider this, buying a new engine because you tried to save about $13 on a new bolt. It ain't worth it.

ouch!!! no i wont skimp. ill get the arp bolt, but it gets my *** cause thats a new bolt in there

Anytime you have to tap the crank, you are asking for trouble.
