Default 243 Stock VS Ported 5.3

Is there a big difference. I have a 98 z-28 a4. I want to do a head and cam swap. I dont want to spend a ton of money on it though. Which head and cam will be the best. I want a cam that runs good on hp but really wakes the car up on nos. Which head will i beneifit from the most. I was thinking the 5.3 because they where ported already. I could be wrong so thats why I am asking? Any info would be helpful thanks guys.

You mean NITROUS? NOS is a brand!!!! You're gonna have to search for your cam and do some about your car or your needs. As for heads if your can get the 5.3 heads cheaper get them, they will flow more.

Really there is nothing cheap about nitrous and and if you do go cheap (ie small shot) then your wasting your time. I don't mean to be a *****, but save your money. I have seen so many guys do that go cheap for power and then in the long run it gets expensive, a hell of a lot more expensive. If your young you have nothing but time. Do it right the first time it saves you money and a head ache.

If you want a cam that loves spray, go with the MS3

A guy hand ported them. Is $500 to much for them. How far will it bump up my compression.

if you decide to P&P them, you might as well just buy some new ones that are already ported. you'll come out cheaper in the end

Porting them will not bump up your compression, however, milling them will bump up your compression.

I think he is referring to the smaller chamber volume of a 5.3L head bumping his compression not th porting itself.

since they are hand ported ask for the flow sheets on them or ask the guy to get them tested. There are a lot of guys that "port" that don't really work that much. Numbers don't lie if they are done independently
