Noise??
WeS
its probubly just piston slap as you said.......
rod bearing knock would not "go away" and is a very "solid" kind of "thump thump thump" and valve train noise (valves, collapes lifter, pushrod, etc..) is a "tick tick" sound....

You said it goes away (or at least dies down) as the motor heats up and thats typical (normal/ok/etc....all good
) for motors. Because the LS1/LS6 is an all aluminum motor (block and heads), sounds carry through the engine MUCH louder than an iron block (think of a bell....
) so what you are HEARING is going on in every other motor in the world (pretty much).IF....you really really start to get parinoid, you could always take the valve covers and rocker arms off and check to see if you have any bent pushrods (it happens....even on auto cars). But I really think your good and don't need to worry about it any more.
Get some cutouts and leave them open.......you won't be able to hear ANYTHING anymore (jk)
