I picked up a set for $400 shipped off a 06 gto with 14,000 miles. I had them milled .015-.020" for $50 and I did a 5 angle valve job on them myself. Mine ended up at 62cc's and with the ($28) GM MLS head gaskets I am at 11:1 compression. Pretty budget setup really, just spend some decent money on your springs, retainers and reuse your stock rockers they are very light weight. Click the dyno link in my signature to see my setup.

Ya I paid a little extra attention to detail but I still could add an underdrive pulley. I put in a different set of injectors and it feels even stronger than before. That is all with a small custom 224 cam because I did not want to lose any power down low. With a bigger cam and a fast 90 I could gain quite a bit. If you do a set of 243 at the very minimum make sure you lap the valves in as they do not seal worth a crap from the factory.

Here is what I did to my heads but I am a machinist and my dad owns all the equipment to do this. Atleast lap the valves in by hand, its not much work and anyone can do it. Do that and for $50 have them milled to 60-62cc's and you will see some nice gains for cheap.

I got the injectors from Jon at http://fuelinjectorconnection.com/shop/ they are a sponsor too, great guy tons of help. Hptuners has been the single best thing I have bought for my car, well that and a wideband. I have been tuning with it for over a year now, it requires tons of reading, trial and error and time. But you have ultimate control of how your car runs. I am always tweaking my timing, afr or any other tables to make it drive nicer and get better mpg. I am getting 25+ mpg on the highway and around 18mpg in town with. The best I have got is 28mpg and I am sure there is more to be gained.

If you are a do it yourselfer type of guy than I recommend it. I do all my own work on my car and am really picky about things. It takes a lot of time and can be frustrating at times but now I have others I am helping out to tune their cars / trucks.

Oh boy I think you have lots of research to do. You can turn any check engine light code off you want. You are reprogramming the computer and well if you dont know what you are doing you can ruin your car. Anytime the car is modified you will need to retune it as the computer is only setup for stock. You gain back the hp you lost by being out of tune. The 1st three months I owned hptuners I had no clue what I was doing. It's not easy to learn that is for sure, but its mostly trial and error. There is a lot of great support on the hptuners forum though if you need help.
