Default cam or intake manifold

I was getting ready to either put in a new cam or put an ls6 intake manifold on my 1999 z28 ls1 and was wondering what i should put on or in first

LS6 intake manifold for the low budget $'s and simply an 1/8 of the labor time. Trust me if you're even thinking cam...get ready to spend $800+ easy and thats just parts.

If you get a cam, you will probably also need a tune.
I would get the LS6 intake manifold first & save for the cam & tune.

I say LS6 manifold before the cam. Get all the bolt on stuff you need to get done to compliment the cam when it comes time!

Unlike SBC, your not saving any labour doing them at the same time, so go ahead with the intake if you wish.

first do you have any mods such as air lid, catback, headers ,? i think traction is important so SFC's sub frame connectors, LCA's lower control arms, maybe panhard. sticky tires. then think about LS6 intake, ported TB, cam (aprox 224). maybe pulley. absolutely a tune!. after that maybe ls6 heads.

I have 3" long tube headers, slp lid, k&n filter, and an SSRA kit. I also have

18x9.5 front Ventus V12 tires

19x10 rear Ventus V 12 tires

am really leaning toward putting a manifold on first but if i were to put a cam in first could my stock lst manifold support it?

I say manifold. Then add the cam later.

I put in an MS3 cam when I still had the LS1 intake. It ran fine, but I picked up a lot of power when I switched to the ls6 intake.

The only reason to do the intake first is so that you don't have to tune it twice. The car will run fine untuned with the ls6 intake, but it will need tuning with the cam.
