Im guessing but the rear dumbell did come back in a box of parts. I had broken the oil sender taking the motor out and thought it might be some kind of plunger from that. Im assuming that if the steel plug was missed up front, the plunger isnt in the back.

Backed off the trans and put the dumbell in, put the 5/8 plug in the front but im a lil paranoid cause it doesnt sit flush like I anticipated. It sits back.

The oil pressure is back...

The front crank seal is leaking so im thinking about putting a new seal in, pulling the alternator to beat the 5/8 plug out and putting ?? in? Its a 5/8? Something else??

Maybe that plug was used or just made a tad bit small.

I got another plug that sat real tight in the front of the block like it should. I feel much better about it now. Also put a new crank seal in while I was at it.

Thanks for the help! Problem solved and she purrs just fine!

Glad you got it fixed. Any idea how the metal plug in the front fell out?

Sorry for bringing old thread back to life. How would you remove and install the barbells? I believe I' have the same issue. New ported ls6 oil pump. Complete rebuilt 5.3 no oilpressure what so ever on the mechanic oil pressure gauge. Haven't ran it due to the oil pressure. Going to remove it again and check everything. So do you need special tools to remove these?I didnt even know it had these installed lol. Thanks.

Quite eeeeezie.

Remove the rear cover from the motor, pull barbell (there's only one) out; reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

Good opportunity to put in something better, such as the saccitycorvette one.
