I am torn on the cyl head issue as the head I would put on is a TFS but with the cost and requirement of roller rockers on a smaller bore motor like the stock 346 and IF/WHEN I blow it and go up to a 4.000+ (or more cyl bore) then the heads may not be optimal and the cyl head choice opens up dramatically. I am honestly expecting never to put a improved cyl on the motor unless I fucked one up and I didnt have the $$$ for a new bullet.
Call Brian Tooley. I've been an old set of his 5.3's forever. Look at the runner size and everything on his site. Then look at the price. He is a bad MF'er

Texas speed has some good combos. Personally I went with afr heads with a smaller camshaft and still made a peak of 450rwhp and 410tq. I'm sure if I went with a larger cam, I'd have a lot more peak hp, but I drive this car EVERY day. No driveabilit issues and I have power everywhere in my rpm range. And far as performance goes against cars with some of the above noted heads cam combos, let's just say I'm a happy camper. Good luck with your search.

Get on the classified section and look for people selling used Trickflow or AFR's. You might make out with a steal. I know Vseriestech is selling a set of AFR's for a good damn deal.

yes!!!!!!! finally think i came across the right thread about my heads and cam. posted up a thread and searched for hours!!! texas speed seems like the best bang for buck.

not to high jack...lol but im currently trying to figure out what the best combo for my app.

its a DD but will see plenty of track time, i know ill have to sacrifice here and there for what i want so please, bare with me. i want high end power, strong till 7k if possible, but without it loping to harsh. yes of course im on a budget to haha, school, parttime job. ya know. here is a quick clip of a car that sounds great to me and has a mild size cam, i may be able to deal with something a lil more aggressive if it gives me enough hp to turn the other cheek hahaha

this is what i likehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycnm1e6IdU8

and also this, very quit at idle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fAX5E3_VmE

this.....not so much

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9R0I...eature=related and

im guessing some has to do with tuning, but you get the idea. my goal is a millionrwhp so any suggestions will be well worth your time.

also, im guessing you do custom cam aswell???

Im gettig the Dana 60 rearend and driveshaft, clutch, etc. But now its cam & headers time.

Thanks guys
I haven't read all the posts so not sure if it was mentioned to look at the used market for the head and cam package. There are plenty of good used parts on board. You can put together a great package for about 50% of new, if not less.

Good Luck.

I've often wondererd why the Ford guys pay half what we do for a pair of Trickflow heads. I would think they would both cost the same to make. Is it just because the market will allow it with the higher end Corvette, Gto guys in the bunch?
