When I say bring the LSA "up", I am talking about numerically making it higher. IE: 113-114. That will retain the tame idle you want, while giving you the ability to run the split w/out driveability loss. Do not get me wrong, the split is going to lope a tad harder, but on a 113-114 it'll be a small change.

You need an M6 for racing on the street brother. A4's suck for highway rolls. If you took your same exact car now, and raced it against your same exact car with a 6 speed from a 55 mph punch, you would lose to the M6. If you don't plan on the track like you said earlier, I would seriously consider an M6 swap. Street racing is my game as well, and I have never been impressed with any of the modded A4's, they fall on their face after 3rd as to where the M6 can pull strong all the way through 5th. JMO

Manuals are good for the fun factor but I know I'll get sick of it traffic.

Quickin,

That's pretty raw about so many folks getting billed for "warranty" it's to the point you don't want to send ARE the engine for them to fix. Sounds pretty wise to get Norris to fix it under the circumstances.

If possilbe please post details of what Norris finds...like maybe a picture of the rings that come out or the cylinder walls.

A local hack actually bored out a Ford 5.0 and built a 347 stroker for a customer but didn't bother to HONE the cylinder walls. It ran for a while and used lot's of oil. Sure wasn't pretty when it came apart. Not saying this occured with your set up.

As for Caddy's the LS6 one should be pretty decent

If he runs across someone who can beat a 436 LS1 w/ a 300 shot then they deserve the win lol. T-56's are unreliable enough on h/c cars. I am going to have about the same setup as him. It will be fun embarrassing cocky guys with M6's

The majority of the 9 second 346's this year are M6's brother. They are holding up pretty well if you ask me

As for highway roll racing....You don't need a TH400 to roll race. M6's are just fine for that. There is no shock on the drivetrain whatsoever, and as long as you're a good driver and don't miss gears there isn't any reason a t-56 should ever break on the street. JMO

Yeah, I admit I have been looking at FLP's T-56. Can't make up my mind if I want to swap or not. I have visions of being stranded in BFE with a blown tranny.

Will BFG drag radials hold a 300 shot even from a roll?

With a rebuilt 436 making the power it is capable of, you'll be able to break your tires loose at pretty high speeds just with NA power. (You might look at the heads while it is down as porting techniques have improved over the past year too )

You'll NEVER get a 436 on a 300 shot to hook on DR's with the suspension setup you have now. You will kill yourself. (I am NOT kidding)

You'll probably run 140+mph in the 1/4 on a 150 shot with that motor. That itself will be tough as hell to control on a DR with stock style torque arm suspension setup.

He wouldn't need a 300 shot to run 140mph. He could do it on a 150 shot with that setup.

....that blows

...why is ARE no longer a LSI Tech sponsor? Did they have a bunch of big bore motors that dropped sleeves?

That is NOT why ARE is not a sponsor here anymore.

They didn't pay their advertising fees hence they were dropped from the sponsor list.

ARE is not a sponsor because they are aholes. They don't know jack about customer service.

Coming from someone that actually has a large displacement motor with a 4l60e, the gear 3rd has out run the m6's that I have run against. First and second will never hook under power even with a drag radial. There is just to much torque. Everyone always wants what they don't have. There are definite advantages to both transmissions. Depends on what you plan to use it for. The 4l60 won't hold to a 300 shot on your car if it hooks up.

Is ARE still in business? I looked for their web page on the Net but could not find it...

...I assume that if they did not pay their advertising fees to ls1tech that they are experiencing financial diffuculties...

...i thought one guy here bought a big bore from them and installed it only to find a dropped sleeve within weeks.... apparently, they voided the warranty...I can't say if this was justified becasue i do not have all the facts, but it does sound weird...

They're still in business and doing fine. A couple of things have gottten blown way out of proportion. Mikey is still one of or the fastest N/A big Inch guys and I know that I'm a top five H/C car for my weight with a set of old ARE heads. Never had any problems. I'm actually working on a new H/C set up with them now and will hopefully have track results before it snows here.
BTW they chose not to advertise here anymore. Probably because their is a **** load of morons on this board.

I love this motor, when it was new it was a joke (in a good way). Easily smoke the tires at 70mph. Wade treated me great after Nick Agostino fugged me for 10 months. I'm just a little upset that they won't take my motor back, no questions asked, and ust re-ring the damn thing. It'll take them 2-3 days and its done.

I just can't seem to make contact and I'm afraid they will charge me something in the end.
