I just saw your car in your sig and u have a 98 ls1 block. u didnt resleeve the cylinders for the 3.905 bore did u? i'm just wondering how the motor was running if u bored the stock sleeves. all i'm going to be using the motor for is drag racing. ya and i'm going to purchase the 383 rotating assembly from TSP so it comes balanced already.

There's more to machine work than just a hone. It will need to be cleaned and you should have the rings fitted to the bore. In addition, you really need to check the mains, too. Align hone would be recommended, especially if you chose to use main studs. Also, even if TSP balances the assembly, it always good to double check.

No it's not the stock block. I was concerned about the limited amount that could be honed out of the 97/98 blocks. W2W had some new 2002/2004 LS6 blocks so I pick one up very cheap...about a third of the price that GMPP wanted. There seems to be conflicting opinions as to the amount that the 97/98 LS1 block can be honed too safely. From what I recall the maximum (from what I was told and read) is .005, thus the 3.905 bore was not safe in my opinion using my 98 block...it's better to be safe than sorry. I also wanted the LS6 block in relationship to the improved oiling over the older LS1 blocks

Does anyone know if i could just buy the wiesco -8cc 3.903 pistons instead? wouldn't these pistons still get 382 c.i. with a 4" stroke? 1 c.i. doesn't matter to me lol. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=950&catid=38 and how would the PTV clearance be with a MS4 cam and those pistons?

Brian Nutter from Wiseco also posts on here, so you could pm him. Tell him the heads, cam, deckheight, etc. and he could line you up with the pistons for the compression you want. I believe they list their pistons at 0 deck on their site. Most ls pistons are out of the hole. So the deckheight/piston in, our out of the hole makes a big difference. You could still run the -8cc and get 11+ compression out of them. Esp. if running milled heads.
