Oil does touch the valvesprings so this does belong in the "Internal Section"

You could cut that time down with an air ratchet...

And there is no problem with the steel tool on the aluminum of the head? If not, that is one awesome tool!

YES, of course this works well! This is exactly the same thing as taking the cheap Napa autoparts spring tool and cutting off the handle then grinding the lips flat. I've been killing myself trying to tell people this is the best way to go, but I guess the vid clip is more convincing than anything else. And BTW, if you don't grind the lips off, the Napa tool WILL scratch the heads!

Amazing, I've often thought it would easy as hell to make one of those, but I never saw your post with the dimensions! It should have been a sticky . . .

The tool seems to work ok, but I don't like the idea of NOT pushing straight down on the retainer. Its a good way to shoot a keeper somewhere where you can't find it.

It works more than ok, it's flawless. We have swapped over 40+ valve springs with this tool in the past week w/out a hitch. Works perfectly everytime. To avoid a keeper shooting out, don't use an air ratchet to try to expedite the process. Just use a ratchet and crank it down. Trust me, the keeper won't fly out anywhere

i assume the hole for the bolt to go is just slightly larger then the bolt diameter. the problem with my autozone tool was that there was way to much play with the forks sliding around the retainer and not compressing down straight and moving. it was a bitch.

I second that.I've been ussing this style compressor for a while and it is the *****!!I have a couple different ones with different size cutouts to fit tight on different retainers.

I used the tool from Larry and my 918's were cake. I don't even dread spring swaps anymore!
