I need some help....Cam questions??
okay i need some help from you guys. PLZZ!!!!!! okay Ive done a cam swap.. comp cam 228r, headers, stock ls1 heads but ported and polished, springs, and hardend push rods, So I did all of this to my ws6 but What im going to ask might seem kinda dumb and It will make me sound dumb but Plz at least help me Im very new to this so Im confused.... So I did all of this and how come my car doesnt feel any different?? I mean It feels just a slit bit diffrence.. Sounds louder I know that!! But is it suppose to be like this till I get it tuned??? Or If i get it dyno tuned will it actually wake up the car?? Plz help
okay Im not trying to be a smart *** okay...BUT if I get it dyno tuned its going to fix most of my problems??? like surging in low rpm?? car dieing on idle?? Okay and another question how does the tuning help?? thanx for taking ur time to answer my questions I appreciate it
When you get your car tuned the tuner will adjust your fuel and ignition curves. Right now your car is running like crap because its getting waaay to much gas. A cammed car will run like crap until its tuned, simple as that. As long as you have even a decent tuner they will get rid of the surge and idle problems.
okay i do see why my car does idle bad, and why I do smell the fuel. But after getting my car tuned will It result in more hp than what It has know?? or just adjust the ignition and fuel??

Well the ultimate question is who installed the cam? Normally that is a good time to have a tuner around to get your idle and fueling correct.
Unfortunately, we do not have enough information to know if it is mechanical or tune related. If pushrod length is off, or the cam was not degreed, or anything else that can go wrong in a cam install would put you down in power.
Don't apologize for a newbie question. I would be also be panicked after installing a cam and not knowing if the install or tune was off. My best advice is to get it on a dyno one way or another and check it out. Otherwise you will just be guessing.
Good luck.
