Heads/cam help
Finally coming back stateside and since my car has been garaged and neglected for almost 4 years I finally want to do a heads/cam swap. I figure it'll be my 'getting-out-of-the-military present' to myself
I've got kooks longtubes/lanes duals and pretty much every other bolt on.
Seems like I've been out of the mod game for so long, so I'm lost
The car made 365ish to the wheels as it sits.
I want it to be completely streetable and not obscenely obnoxious or anything but want decent power. I'm already illegal with the !cats and dumped duals but I've been lucky with that being overlooked for inspections so far.

I have the trickflows and they are pretty beasty...I would say get the stock heads worked and get a nice cam to match.Just look at it like this trickflows are one of the best heads out for these cars so you know what to expect out of them, the cam you get will decide how streetable the car will be.

my 2 cents head/cam
243 casting LS6 head, CNC port and open up to a 2.00"/1.60" Manley stainless steel valve with a three angle performance valve job and, back cut the valves. Resize the guides for the proper clearance and set the installed heights and surface the heads to 62cc so you will have a 11:1 compression with your stock piston and the .045" Cometic head gaskets. If you piston sticks out of the hole .010" like most LS1 engines then this will give you a .035" quench height which will be perfect, and help keep engine knock down in my opinion. The cam Extreme Energy grind from Comp Cams and it has a 230/236 Duration @ .050" and a .600"/.600" lift on a 112 LSA, this cam works great with these heads and I recommend checking the degree point noted on the cam card when installing the cam.
With that combo a 7.400 push rod but always check the geometry, along with your other mods that should make a great streetable ground pounder.

Oversize valves+mill+.045 Cometic is gonna make PTV very tight. IMO your are gonna have to flycut that combo.
IMO as long as budget allows get the TFS 215's and mill for desired compression and drop in a high 220's or low 230's cam. Then top it off with a Fast 90 or 92 preferably ported.....
What is is your budget. That would really help us make suggestions......

For $3k I definately say get you a TSP head and Cam combo. I'm going to go with the PRC stg 2.5 5.3 heads milled for a 62cc chamber and cometic .045 gasket and a cam. I priced the combo out at $2K including the timing chain and a ported LS6 oil pump. I'm going to go with their headers, x-pipe,and true dual setup too. I like their prices, what can I say?
