Default Broken Rocker?

Just installed the new cam and when we started it up it ran and then broke a rocker, what could cause that?

Check your preload, make sure the cam is installed properly, rocker pedestal is installed, etc. all need to be looked over. Did it knock the needle bearings out or did it actually break the rocker? Did you check PTV before firing it up? What springs are you using? Let me know and I'll see if we can help determine the cause.

It actually broke the rocker, I'm using patriot xtreme springs. It ran for about 20 seconds then it broke.

Pushrod length is correct, can you be any more specific on what might have gone wrong so that I can fix it?

Oh and also is it possible that the rocker just couldn't handle the upgraded springs and pushrods?

Well that sucks I wish it was that easy. I'm ordered yella terra 1.7 rockers and I'm going to double check everything and hope that solves the issue.

Well I'm leaving for college Friday so the goal was to get the car done before then so I could drive it a couple times. Since that didn't happen and I won't be driving it for the next 8 months I figured why not just build a stroker motor.

Check for coil bind, that will break them fairly quick.

why do ppl insist on adjusting rockers? u tighten them up till they seat, no matter where that lifter is on that cam lobe, it will tighten correctly. if its at the peak of the lobe, it will open the valve as u tighten.
