I have 2 L33 engines in my pole barn and about to use one in a 93 rx7 I plan to have the heads ported and larger valves installed in one of the sets of heads I have both 243 qand 799 which are better and why.... I also plan a tr224 cam ls5 intake and ported thorttle body with 28.8 injectors any input would be greatly appreciated!

The 243's have lighter weight valves, that I belive is the main difference between the two.

No, please do not give half-truths.

LS6 243s had light weight valves.

LS2 243s had regular valves, same as 799s. They are the same... some Corvettes even have one 243 and one 799.

That is not true. ONLY The 2002-2004 Z06 LS6 engines had hollow stem valves, with the exhaust valves filled with a liquid sodium alloy.

2005+ LS2 and LS4 (front drive G-bodies) used the 243 casting, but with standard valves. The 799 used a different casting process than the 243. In my opinion, the 243 is the better casting (stronger, better machining).

I have never seen a Corvette with 2 different cylinder heads but you are correct the LS2 has regular vavles I was only referencing LS6 243's.

CTS-V's also had LS6 engines with the light valves. It is debatable which is better. The solids are a little stronger, so it's a bit of a give-and-take.

ok good information, so either route I go I will be fine, I'm not building a drag car, I'm just running a L33 5.3 with ls6 intake tr224 112lsa cam and 28.8 injectors, I will be happy with that I'm sure.
