I've got almost 30K on my non-blue stripes, with a Comp 218/226 527/535 cam. Do I need to worry about changing them anytime soon since the cam is small? Going on 2000 mile roadtrip (to Nashville and back) in a few weeks and looking for peace of mind
Rev 2.02/1.57 valves, stock retainers, hardened pushrods, stock rockers, btw.

I'm around 27k on my pre-blue stripes.. three cams so far.. 221/227 .561/.569, then a 224/224 .581/.581, and now a 238/240 .605/.609 .. I've pulled the 238/240 cam over 7000 RPM without valve float I'm running IRS Stage II heads, 2.02/1.575 Manley valves.
I'm getting nervous though, and really want to swap to an ls6 stage 3 head with dual springs.

I dunno what's worse, this cam/spring setup or the fact I hit 122% injector duty cycle at that rpm, AND have a stock fuel pump still I did it tonight in fact, logging data on a nice cruise to help a buddy swap headers off his car .. Hit 7057 RPM in 3rd gear, and just shy of 7k in 2nd and 4th ... Car just pulls and pulls
I only have about 2k or so miles and a dozen or so races on this new cam, I guess we'll see how long before I break a spring... Cross your fingers and toes for me pleeeeze

Stock retainers, Comp 875 lifters, Comp 7.350" pushrods, Manley valves.. Nothing special, just pushing a combo to see how far it'll go.. I'm pretty much expecting a spring to let go at some point, even though Comp Cams RECOMMENDED this spring for this setup
I more or less got tired of looking at the car and not driving it, so I threw it together and started beating on it Much to my surprise, it runs pretty darned well

Good topic, I wanted to ask this soon.
I've got 22k miles on a set of pre-blue stripe 918s (they were an early batch I got in Nov '01) running a T1 cam. I don't beat on my car that much, but I'd say the setup has probably about 25 passes on it over 2 years. I was thinking of swapping them out this winter for a fresh set for peice of mind.
I know they reccomend spring changes every 17-20k miles with those big agressive cams on XE-R lobes, but what about smaller, milder cams, about how long is it adviseable to go?
