Default oil pressure sending unit questions

when the car is off we disconnect the battery the oil gauge goes to bout 65psi, when we turn the car on the pegs out the gauge wayyyy past 80 on dash, could it be a bad oil pressure sending unit, this is on a brand new motor with less then 10 mins of run time thanks guys its the new sending unit but its made by some company callled wells
