is that a stock longblock lq9? nice numbers, i like the looks of the curves, both tq and hp, especially after 5500. that is a deceiving combo. the numbers don't sound stellar, but given the curves that car will move.

Haha, no, I don't think I went to Kansas, but it's possible you saw another Medium Blue Metallic

There are only 1,100 of us or so, but I'm sure Kansas has at least a few of them

Yeah, stock lq9 bascially, other than the cam inside, with valve springs and pushrods. I'm not into a HP numbers war either, damn auto lol I was just surprised at the numbers because I had people telling me all the way up until the dyno that it would be putting around 360~ to the wheels, so that was my expectation going in.

ya, automagics aren't good for dyno wars. i am an at guy at heart, though. best result with least effort = stalled auto. i loved having a 300whp stalled auto car that went 12.2s @ 110 haha.

everyone that looked inside of it kind of frowned when they saw the at console. then you tell someone it only makes like 310whp they kind of sink down. then hear the comments they make at the line when your buddy is recording a pass haha priceless.

That sums up my experience exactly lol.

"Oh it's an auto..."

Now I can't pull off the "little old me" trick because of the cam... but still.

Threw a quick dyno vid of the car together. Nothing particularly special, considering my Iphone **** on itself trying to record how loud the car is. Oh well :/

Thanks for all the responses guys, I appreciate it. The car is a blast to drive, and it wouldn't have been possible if I didn't have the people to help and give advice on LS1tech and the LSX world in general.

What were the specs of the cam? Predator has some great cams out there in our cars. He ought to seriously make some kind of plaque that we can buy from him that says something like "Custom Predator Cam." Id buy it, lol.

Do you think you're going to give it more air like he recommended? 85mm maf?

I don't think Predator has a problem with posting cam specs (some people **** a brick if you do), but I didn't pay a cent for it, so I guess it's free knowledge.

230/228 .592/.588 110-1 LSA

Obviously specced out custom to my specific mods and exhaust especially.

PAC single beehives if I remember correctly. I wanted to go as large as possible without having to run a dual spring. Chops pretty nice for what it's worth

Going to the track this Friday night, should be in the low 60s temperature wise, so I will have some concrete times (on Mickey Thompsons) that I suppose I can post here

As far as having the combo make more power... I'm not sure. Haven't decided is the short answer

I'm going to be finishing up college here very soon, and I'm at the point where I can afford a C6 vette quite comfortably, and if that's the case, there might not be a point in modding my car any further. I could get a nice set of 243s, MAF, ported throttle body, and THEN call it a day... but again... not sure. Predator said it would still make very good power with a set of nice heads (He suggested Cartek 4x 243s I think).

Sounds good! I dynoed my GN at AZDC a while back, and should be hitting Firebird on Friday as well (in the Camaro). Where in Gilbert do you live?

Recker and Guadalupe. Carol Rae Ranch area (1/4 mile west from the Valero)

Always good to see other people from Gilbert

I have not encountered any moderately-modified cars here though :/

Does your GN stay in the garage or no? I know I have seen one once or twice, but only recently within the last couple months... That's pretty damn good, mid 11s on a street tire

Actually I'm off of Recker and Williams Field (The Willows). The GN is parked in the garage, but has been out a couple times now that it has started to cool off. It runs pretty well, but is a bit tempermental! When I dyno'ed it at AZDC a while back it put 390/510 down. I have added a few things since then, so I'm hoping its in the 450/550 range now.

Its possible, its my DD.
I was at TopGear today and I guess Sean is going to the track on Saturday, its an all day Drag and Drift day, so he can adjust my tune at the track.

Hopefully getting the Buick into track condition next week, a two week fall break is one of the few perks of being a teacher

Yeah, he just emailed me about the $5 off coupon, so I will look into that.

It's one of those things where I might not get enough runs in on Friday night, so I will show up Saturday.

Sounds good, I'll be there at 8 and try to get some runs in while its still in the 60-70's. I'll keep an eye out for your car in case you show up, curious to see what your car runs.

any updates on track times?

im researching a similar cam for my lq9 build.

edit*** found in another thread

Stock LQ9 with - 230/228 .592/.588 110-1 LSA cam

LPP Headers, TSP sweet thunder true duals

Lid - LS6 Intake - Stock Throttle body - Stock MAF - 42 lb Ford Injectors - Stock fuel system

Stock 317s

3600 Edge Racing Stall - Mickey Thompson 255/50/R16 ET Street Drag radials

Eibach drag springs all around, KYB adjustables up front (Number one setting), with Tockico shocks in back (non-adjustable... just there because I ran out of money)

With Sean from TopGear driving the car it ran the 11.96 in the video, and cut a 1.63 60 ft. (My personal best was 12.06 @ 112.5 and 1.67 60 ft) and 85~ degrees outside at Firebird raceway.
