Hydrolocked...Forged motor?
Well last night I was driving and I saw a car go through a flooded area and figured hey I should be alright...well I wasn't. My car is lowered around 1 1/2 inches and has springs on it and has the WS6 air box. So I decided to try and drive through it and about halfway through the car just dies. I had this happen before on another vehicle so I didn't start it. I get out and there is around 12" of water and up to the centercap on my wheels. So now I pulled the plugs out and am about to try to crank it. Will the insurance company total it? NADA shows it's worth like $8959. I have all the receipts for a forged motor with rods, pistons, cam, heads, and everything else. But I'm not sure what I need to do? If they cut me a check I can go about my ways to replace the motor if necessary, right? If I want to buy a block and salvage what's good in my motor.

Man, I just dont see how it would have taken water just like that. I mean I know is lowered and all but still. Besides the WS6 box you happen to have a free ram air mod too?

Yah it has that done to it too. So it has the sheet metal intake thing so it sucked it in through there. It was pretty bad when I took the lid off and looked in the throttle body. There was like an inch of water in there.

***Update
Well I got the plugs out and cranked it over manually a few times. Then I went to the moment of truth... to fire it up. It cranked over easily and started idling kinda high, about 1300-1400 RPMS. So I listened to it and no knocks or anything so I just wanted to see what it was going to do. Then it finally caught an idle and sat at the regular about 900 or so. I let it idle for about 5 minutes or so then tried to pull it up and it started hesitating real bad then started to try to die. I haven't changed the oil yet but am going to before I try to start it again. So I'm not sure if I'm good to go or my car is going to be toast. But as of now it doesn't seem like anything is knocking or tickin so that's always a good sign.

You possibly just destroyed your engine with your second stunt. First one was pretty stupid, the second was inexcusable. People here told you to drain the oil before you try to start it.
Oil and water DOES NOT mix. It WILL NOT lubricate the drivetrain.
Also, you hyrdolocked one motor yet you still drove through water with a FORGED motor??

Your insurance will NOT cover your forged motor unless you itemized it with them and they adjusted your premium accordingly. If you have full coverage, they will cover what a stock motor would cost with the mileage it has. I think I remember someone posting that isurance give these motors a 200,000 mile life expectancy, and adjust costs of replacing accordingly......... so if youve got over 100,000 miles u can expect to recieve less than someone who only has 20,000 miles.
