Default Pic of yellow crap under oil cap

So for about 8 months now I have been a serious short tripper in my Z28. I drive it about 6 minutes to work every day. I'm pretty sure this is the reason for the yellow crap, lol.

BTW, I have 136k on a hotcam only 98 LS1 with no PCV upgrades.

It would be a good idea to let the car warm up for a bit every couple days before driving so it can boil the moisture out of the crankcase.

Yeah just looks like moisture in your oil IMO. The short trips would probably do it.

I wiped it out so I can see if it comes back. I normally don't let it warm up before I take off (I know, bad ) and we rarely use it for anything longer than short town trips because its so much of a pita to drive with the loud and rough rear end (future S60 owner). I think I'm on the path to an LQ9 soon...

Could be a slightly leaking head gasket. How does the oil itself look?

I haven't noticed anything unusual. The coolant also looks pretty good at the cap.

Then it is probably condensation. Also I'd clean/replace your PCV valve if you haven't in awhile.

Mo 'Tussin Mo 'Tussin.

Seriously though it does look like its just condensation. Try to drive the car more often. It's hard on a motor to take short trips like that.

If the oil is milky then yes I would agree. But if it's just the cap it's probably just condensation. I have seen dist. caps like that on SBC's.

these guys are idiots, its normal. This can be expected with your mods and from driving it the way you do without warm up time. Unless by chance the oil looks milky, which i doubt.

I havent changed the oil in a while. Even though I havent hit 3k miles since feb I should probably change it out. The oil on the dipstick looked normal. It tends to use about a quart of oil every 2k miles.

Exactly. If the oil itself isnt milky its from the short trips only. I freaked out when I first bought my car b/c of the same thing. I took it to the dealer where they informed me of what was causing it. And then after joining this site I learned why it was happening.

Let it warm up until it's at least over 100* before you go drive it.
