Default TR224 with 243 heads-anyone use this setup?

Lets try this again.... im planning to use a tr224 cam which i believe is 224/224 .561/.561 114lsa with the stock LS6 yellow springs. Im told that the max lift on the yellows are .580 and the stock ls6 cam lifts about .550, check it out on the cam guide... so my question is can i get away with using the stock rockers and yellow springs and FINALLY if anyone knows what lenght push rods i should use since the LS6 valves are .6mm longer than LS1 springs to make up for the ls6 cam having a smaller diameter. Someone had to have used an LS1 cam on ls6 heads before so someone should know. This would be the 3rd time i try asking and no one seems to know so a little help plz

As for the pushrods the stock length 7.400 should be fine, but I would upgrade to hardened pushrods, get rid of the stock pushrods. Rockers do not need to mess with you will be fine using the stock ones. As for the valve springs, you "could" get away with the yellow Z06 springs, but since your gonna be putting the time and money into a heads/cam swap I would atleast upgrade to a valve springs that is good to a 0.600 lift

i agree with uLS1a . don't take the cheap way out on the springs ,man. go with something with at least .600 lift ( comp 918's or similar set of springs ). i have a similar set up ,but my springs came with my heads and they are rated to .690 lift according to Livernios Motorsports. so , i'm not even making work them hard at all with my TSP224 cam. i may upgrade the cam one day ,but i'm happy for now .

Yep dont skimp with springs. If you do the springs yourself get the crane cams dual valve spring tool.

The TR224 cam is a great cam. I would not get the hotcam over it. I made 38Xrwhp & 370rwtq cam only with the TR224. You will see over 400rwhp with an M6 & that combo.

Use 918 springs, they are cheap enough and will do the job right.

The 7.4 pushrods are for the smaller base circle cams.

Thunder recommends the patriot gold dual springs for the TR224. We called them awhile back on some heads that had Manley Nextek springs on them that were wore out and they told us patriot golds.

Thats becasue they are dual springs. A lot of people here run them for "insurance" and to be better safe then sorry. With a .561 lift, Comp 918s will be fine for what he needs, BUT if he wants to spend the extra money to be better safe then sorry he can get the Patriot Dual Gold which are good to a .650 lift.

You would be fine with either of the two, the 918's or the Patriots. I know alot of people here don't like the 918's but I've had nothing but good luck with them over the years. I have seen breakages out of ALL brands of springs and types (dual or single) I would not trust the stock LS6 springs with the TR224 UNLESS you have the true sodium filled LS6 valves as well. Even then, it would be a good idea to upgrade to 918's at a mininum.

get some PAC's . rather thn a 918... or if u get a dual valve spring, that would save u money in the logn run, cause u will be wanting to step up the size once u get a taste of it.

I wouldn't even consider the ls6 springs.I would use comp 918 or pac 1218 at least. If you can swing it use the duals. It's worth the extra piece of mind. The tr224 is a all around great cam.Works well and is very predictable. You can't go wrong with it.

I saw these on ebay, are they any good?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PRO-S...Q5fCarQ5fParts

also could someone give me a link to the PAC 1218?

remember that ill be swapping in 243 heads also. im trying to do this as cheap as possible since ive been having that trend anyways. I even got the 243s with the triangle cast, the ls6 springs, and an ls6 cam for free
