Exclamation Some quick tech advise.. driving broken car..

Ok so earlier this summer I bent pushrods and valves in my car. I replaced the pushrods to find out I had bent valves. It does still run and drive just not very healthy as you might imagine.

I HAVE to move my car from where its at now to my home 20 miles away. Nobody around has a car trailer that I can load it on to haul it.

My question is will it hurt to baby the hell out of it and drive it the 20 miles slowly? Its out in western Kansas so its all open highway, no stop-and-go traffic.

Some advice needed quick as my car has to be out by this weekend. Thanks in advance!

Hire a tow truck, think about the cost of a truck compared to the cost of possible repairs

Bent valves will wear out guides, so instead of just replacing valves you'll have to get new guides as well. (assuming your guides are still good)
Worst case a valve stem could break off and sayonara engine.

another concern is the 2 1/2 miles of gravel road. but i guess as long as they drive extremely slow it should be fine if they used a dolly

If it starts and runs they can't be bent too badly....drive it. Nothing is going to magicly happen because you run it with bent valves. becha they are only bent a few thous or it wouldn't runat all.

Figure something out cuz if it drops a valve while you baby it home, you're out a motor. Tow that bitch.

You are on perfectly straight, level ground?

I would tow that sucker home with a rope because I'm as cheap as you are.

I've seen bent valves break and ******* destroy a motor. It's a bad deal. Rather be safe than sorry and spend a few bucks to tow it home rather than drive it, blow the bitch up, and be building a new motor.

If those valves were gonna break they would have already. Maybe running the **** out of it with bent valves could cause a stem to break but he is just going to drive it easy. Drive it already damit! These guys are like chicken little.....

actually I'd probably do this. If it's all flat, find some real heavy duty rope, and tie it up good. have somebody ride in the drivers seat in case the rope breaks so you can brake and pull over. Not sure of the legality of that set up though.
