TSP 233/239 Cam Help
I am looking to finally cam my 2000 Formula and I am really interested in the Texas Speed 233/239 camshaft. I am trying to get opinions from people that already have this cam in daily driven cars. I live in Houston and was curious how livable this cam could be with a good tune and possibly any fuel mileage that people get. I have an A4 car with a stall, gears, under driven, LS6 intake, and 1 7/8 headers; with cam only and tune would it be possible to lay down 390 RWHP? Do I need double springs? Hows the power/torque curve and off the line?

i run that cam and use the car only on weekends. car drives great and does buck a little bit on real low rpm's but this cam really rips from about 4k on up to 6600. I have it on a 113lsa and has a nice lope to it. I always get compliments on my car. The gas mileage is about the same as stock as long as my foot stays out of the throttle. I would recommend a good tune to keep it very driveable for your DD. I'm up in the Conroe area if you ever wanna swing by and hear it. Just let me know.

Is there a better cam that pulls hard in the mid rpms 2500-4000 but still could get me in the upper 380-390 rwhp? since mines an automatic im slightly concerned that it pulling that hard in the upper rpms might be a bit of a waste.

i wouldnt say its a waste. what size stall do you have. i have an edge 3200 and between shifts my car never drops below 4500 so it would be right in the power band of said cam.

I love this cam, but I would not use it for a DD. On the race track it rocks 3000-6600.
It is a bit of a beast for a street driver. For a car that is driven in traffic I would go to a 224 intake duration.

What about the TSP 228R would that possibly get me around the power I want, or what about custom grinding a cam, what specs would get me the power I want and the livability I would like

There are plenty of folks out there pushing high 300's and low 400's cam only with the same basic combo and stall you have. For your combo, I'd go with the 228R camshaft or TorquerV2 instead of the 233/239. Those will retain better street manners and area under the torque curve, while still getting you that peak HP number you're wanting. For these you could get away with the PAC 1218's (.600" lift beehives) or for a longer spring maintenance interval the PRC dual spring kit would do the trick! Let us know if we can help!

I'm pretty set on picking one of the these cams for what I'm after.
I really like what I have seen with the 228R, but that V2 is very impressive on the top end, for what it puts out on the low end.
