I'm not trying to be an azz, but if this is a custom piece, why are you selling it with a lip/ridge in front of the TB blade?

For what this is going to cost, you shouldn't have to "port" this unit.

I'm making this assumtion from the pic you posted, let's see some more pics!!!

There is no lip/ridge in the mouth of the T-body. That is the transition where the throttle blade must have a straight edge to seal correctly. We did extensive flow testing to find every small increase possible and left nothing on the table for a throttle body this size. It was designed to perform as good as it looks!

Like I said, if you can work on the price, have a delete logo option and have them available in chrome, I'd buy one.

Billium, didn't you just drop $600 on a polished waterpump? lol. Nobody said you couldn't have them chromed on your own. I think some of you guys are being too picky about a throttle body, you really do have to see one in person to appreciate the design, quality, and flow numbers. This fully-machined, polished item is the same retail as the BBK t-body, and that one is just cast aluminum with some so-so quality control. Those have "BBK" on them, and they aren't polished, yet tons of guys still buy them.

If I were a parts manufacturer for a custom part, I wouldn't take my name off of the product. If you guys are that hardcore about having a smooth one with no name, bust out the mill or die grinder and "customize" it.

The BBK TB is also larger than stock, and flows more air than a ported stock piece, so there is actual room for improvement (if the LS6 intake allowed it). The 75mm throttle blade will only let so much air through it, if its a cast stocker, or a $$$ billet one. Any gains versus other ported TBs? That will be the selling point, IMO. I just don't see how this is going to outflow other ported TBs, especially at over twice the price.

That being said, it is very "blingilicious" and should appeal to the show car peeps.

Yep, I did drop over $600 on a Chrome EWP, I'm still trying to recover from "I can't believe I spent $600+ on a EWP", but HP and Bling ain't cheap.

I can live with the logo and it does look like a very nice piece, but you can't knock me for trying to get it cheaper... lol

It's a very nice piece. It'd look good on my future LSX intake and my current MTI 427

Just got back from PRI and talked with Wilson Manifolds (who makes the TB's for FAST too) and talked with them about their 77mm and 90mm TB's for the FAST intakes. I actually have to talk with them about this a little more today.

From what I can remember the pricing on the Wilson stuff is similar to what MTI is saying.

What pressure is the MTI TB rated at?

1000cfm @ 28" is pretty easy, JPR has test one of our OEM hand ported ones and seen more than that at 28".

FWIW, TB's and carbs are rated at 20.3" of H2O or 1.5" Hg. So if you had 1000cfm @ 28" it would be about 854cfm @ 20.3"

Our hand ported stock units flow 900cfm @ 20.3", Wilson's 77mm TB's are listed at 945cfm, the 90mm TB is around 1300cfm both of which are about right for the added flow area. (both rated @ 1300cfm)

900cfm for $200
1000cfm for $400
1300cfm for $400

How does that compare?

Bret

Hello All,First i would like to congratulate Jayson @MTI on taking things to the next level as always.
I have the new MTI TB on my car now,to make a long story short, all i can say is The MTI Billet TB is totally Awesom.
It performs as well as it looks,I gained 12 rwhp an 10 rwtq.
This is not a modified stock GM unit.
Everything is machined from Billet Aluminum.
You guys must see this piece in person.

That's the one everyone is having trouble with.

Bret

BTW I'm not flaming them at all with this, I just want to know what pressure they flowed the TB at so you can compare apples to apples.

Werd and since I'm in town it's not like we couldn't swap the TB's right on the dyno in a real world car that's driven daily to see gains... ;-)

I ported and polished my own TB. It took a few hours.
