Stupid question about installing rockers Dont laugh...
On pre LSX GM engines whenever I installed rockers on a hydrolic lifter motor I would put the engine in the #1 firing position and tourge 1/2 the rockers down while spinning the pushrod with my fingers until the pushrod wouldnt turn and then go about 3/4 more of a turn on the rocker nut to set the lash. Then I would turn the engine to the #6 firing position and repeat the last steps on the remaining 8 rockers.
Im getting ready to pull the heads on my LS1 and I read the torque spec for rocker nuts are 22 ft/lbs
I did a search to find that the LSX rockers sit in rocker stands.
Do the stock rockers nest in the rocker stands at a predetermined height where you can simply tourque them all down in one shot no matter what position the crank would be in? Cause that would be dope.

Yep, it's a pretty easy install compared to the older engines. It wouldn't hurt to put some kind of sealant on the intake rocker bolt since it goes into the intake port to ensure not oil runs down the threads. Other than that, torque them down and you are ready to go!

It's called a pedestal. The rocker bolts have locktite under their heads that take a lot more than 22ft lbs to break loose the first time. Use a 3/8 drive breaker bar and a 6 pt. 8mm socket. Give each rocker bolt a good hard pop to break the locktite and then will unscrew with your fingers. 22 ain't that much.
