Default Got a new cam...Need help choosing springs/retainers

I decided to go with a very mild cam. And I just got a great deal on the SLP 216/220 .524"/.530". SLP and all their distributors say that new valve springs and retainers along with tuning are required. Which ones do you guys think I should go for? I was considering Comp 918s or Manelys with ti retainers. I dont want to go too extreme like double springs unless I really need it. Should I be concerned with a spring that has too strong of a spring rate? Would that damage my cam, bend a rod or a valve, or break a rocker? Also, do I need to be concerned about coil bind?

Thanks for any suggestions...

i dont know how aggressive the ramps are but some ls6 springs would fit the bill also, 02+ springs that is. there excellent for longevity. the manley springs or 918's will work also seeing as your cam is very mild lift and duration. i bought the manley kit for my cam, 178 w/ tit retainers from SDPC2k, there a sponsor.

I'd go with the 918's and stock retainers, that combo is hard to beat for almost any cam. I even ran 918's with stock retainers on my TSP231/237 up to 6,800rpm for about 2,000 miles before switching to the new patirot duals.

Thanks, guys. I just called up SDPC (website not working) and ordered the Manley springs and Ti retainers. Cant wait to get all this installed. Also, do I need to worry about intalled height? If so, how do I measure and adjust for that?

Good pick going with the manley springs and retainers, I just had some bad luck with 02 ls6 valve springs on my car only lasted 400 miles. And my cam is just like yours, I purchased the same springs and retainers as you and will have to wait till spring to install.

Anyone know what size, degree, and how many grooves the keepers have? I'm going to get some new ones while I'm at it...

I have to agree the Manleys with the Tit Rets for 178.00 is very hard to pass up, I am down to them or the new patroit duals for my tr230.

as for the Keepers they have them for 19.00 where you got your springs from
