your just going to want to tear the motor back apart to put the ls6 ones on later, so why not wait? the ls6 heads untouched are worth like 20hp alone...

Agree do not do the 853s and do not go out and try to see if you can get a set of 241s either. They are just as bad...ok not as bad but are close. You can go on ebay and find a set of 243s for about $400 that's how much I paid for mine a few months ago. I had Advance induction do all the port work and CNC I supplied everything else(valves, springs, retainers etc.) and they charged me 1100 so am into my heads 1500 and its the best investment i have made to date for my car.

I have a quick question kinda related to this topic.....i have heard that there arent really any after market heads for the ls1....Its just being able to pic the right casting and the aftermarket brands of heads are basically the different castings that have been ported?...is this accurate info at all?

Hell no there are so many it will make your head swim..... The top ones excluding the big $$$ All Pros are AFR, TFS and ETP. TSP has a proprietary casting now too and the guy I know who runs those made big dyno #'s but he doesn't track the car so.....????

Carey of ETP has started a new company and I am having a brain fart on the name but I will remember it and post up.

sorry bud but i totally disagree with you on that statement. example: i have a 2000 SS A4 with 853 heads with 3.23's ls6 intake and at the time LT's with 3" true duals and LM1 resonators and my buddy has a 01 WS6 A4 with 241 heads and at the time with 3.23's ls6 intake and the same LT's and same 3" true duals but with magnaflow resonators, he pulled on me everytime...i never had a chance if it was two M6 cars yeah ok it'd be more of a drivers race but with two A4's, alot comes down to the stock cam and stock heads. i do agree with you on the second part though, OP if you have LS6 heads just wait until they are ready, you don't want to tear down everything twice just my .02

The reason I said that the 241s are not good heads is because of personal experience. I went $1200 into my own 241s. Ported them had the chambers down to 59CC went with the 235CC intake runners and had the deck milled .030. With the cam I had I was just touching 400 rwhp 396 to be exact w/ 378 tq. This was with a custom cam through an A4. Lloyd Elliot did all the work and the guy is a genius when it comes to 241 port work.

I then went with the 243s. I jump 20whp with nothing done to them, I had Advance induction do all the work to them and went with a different cam for my second H/C package and now I am running 450+ rwhp and 420+ tq through an A4 w/ 3.42s and a 3400 stall not bad numbers for an A4 (RPM STAGE IV 4L60E). For stock application the 241s are a good head for any aftermarket work I go with the 243s. Many people told me to I ignored them and now I am out 1200 that I could have used in something else.

This is just my personal experience and opinion.

i'm not sayin 243's wouldn't be smart to use hell i'd love to through some 243's on my car but i have assemlbed and fresh 241's in my room so i'll use what i have. btw what were the specs or the cam you had with your 241's, did you use stock injectors or did you upgrade? maybe next year or the year after i'll upgrade to 241's but i'm gonna work with what i have . . . and with the 243's a different cam will go in also

Why are you doing a reverse split? Also why are you using such big injectors? 36# will flow 42#.
