Default Rod bolts

I am going to get my cammed z06 tuned soon and I am wondering how high can I spin my stock bottom end 04 ls6? Theres a guy on corvetteforum (not sure if hes here or not as I don't spend much time on the net) spinning a boosted stock ls6 long block to 7k. I would like to spin it until power starts dropping off, but do not want to go to 7k if I don't have to.

I guess the question is, how high can I reliably turn it? If it were to pop it would have to sit for a while before funds were avalible for me to build a motor for it.

Kinda figure GM would put better rod bolts in the ls6 because of the higher red line.

You will know if you went to far once you have you internals loosely hanging out your bottom end. Alot of us upgraded the rod bolts to Katecks or ARPs. I went with The Katecks. Cheap insurance over a new shortblock.

No really? Incase you cannot read I am trying to see how fast I can turn it WITHOUT having that happen. And I know that people upgrade the rod bolts im not stupid. It is just something I do not wish to tackle right now. If I did I would be going with the Katecks though.

only 6600 when the stock redline is 6500?

Does anyone know if the ls6 used different rod bolts?

Ok -I was only pointing out a few things. Sorry that maybe I didnt come across with a magical answer. Go ahead and rev it to the moon and take note where it grenades. Stock on mine was around 6200. On a 2000 block. the connecting rods and hardware are the same block to block. Now 2001 and later came with stronger ones. But I have seen them come apart around 6500. I was just trying to warn you and keep you car on the road rather down due to that someone could have been lieing about what all they had thinking it would be funny for anyone to try.

Yeah my stock redline of 6500 is going cause it to come unglued . Okay. It must be living its last breath after my 50+ passes at the dragstrip. Not to mention the spirited street driving that takes it to 6500 regularly.

I would set your limiter to 6800 RPM. Get it on the dyno and see where it makes power to and shift accordingly. You shouldn't have a problem turning the stock bottom end there.
